I have no longer been able to contact those mirroring the site, so I took them off the official one. On the two other mirroring sites remaining, they still have old links that should have been removed by now. Thanks again for the comment [I don't know how everyone just missed on that one;)] Later Moe Elzubeir Editor of CScene http://cscene.oftheitner.net/

Run some banners, get some money, this magazine is super! Make some money off of it. Do what you have to to keep it going! The articles I have read are useful to me, the JNI and sockets articles, so I will definetly keep reading. take care mike

As the subject states, I have a few questions / comments, not necessarily related, though. First of, it would be a great improvement for people without permanent connection (such as myself) if it were possible to download a tar.gz file of each mag to view offline, and since you already have each issue in its own directory, adding this should take you about one minute. Secondly, you wrote in the intro of issue #4: > I have been contemplating putting banners and other advertisements on >the CScene web page, to cover for the expenses, and perhaps pay the >authors a little something that could push some others write. Due to >the fact that I hate banners, I have been deciding against it for >months now. Personally, my beef is with banners that change dynamically, forcing a reload every time you hit the page. I wouldn't mind clicking on a few links, though, if they were just _links_ at the bottom of the page, with no annoying animated graphics blinking all over the place. Third: When is the deadline on issue #5? I thought about writing a short article on doing mechanics in generalized coordinates (as opposed to cartesian or spherical position coordinates - if it's not too off-topic), but if the deadline is anytime soon now, I probably won't have the time to do it. Well, that's about it. Thank's for maintaining the mag. :) James Avery <avery@io.dk>

The reason this issue did not have an ASCII version avaiable was that I was in such a rush to release the fourth issue on the 25th. I made a promise to do that, and I did it by midnight. It was a hassle, and I didn't want to go through stripping it and providing it in readble form (specially that my article was put in a table, and I didn't want to go through ASCII'ing it right away). But, I definitely will continue providing ASCII versions of the ezine. Just give us a bit of time. > > Secondly, you wrote in the intro of issue #4: > no annoying animated graphics blinking all over the place. We have discussed that with other fellow staff members, and other people and have decided to keep C Scene clean out of the banner business, since we will have cscene.oftheinter.net as our host as long as we live. It also turns out [i didn't know] is that it's running off of a university box, which according to the university policies, is not allowed [to run banners, etc]. Of course we thought about having the first page elsewhere, with the banners, but that is just not worth it. So, worry not ;) > Third: > > When is the deadline on issue #5? If your article misses that date, it will automatically be evaluated for the issue after it. I have given the staff and myself a 5 day break to clean up the articles and provide them in an error free format [no spelling mistakes, grammar, etc]. So, we will be doing a bit more than just verifying the code, and that the technical stuff is actually accurate. > > Well, that's about it. Thank's for maintaining the mag. :) > Thank you very much for your interest. It's good to hear from people who have actually liked the magazine. It's been a hassle getting it going again after the third issue.. but we'll live ;) Let us hear from you. Moe Elzubeir Editor of C Scene http://cscene.oftheinter.net/

Hello, I saw a post on slashdot about your zine. Nice stuff. I think that an interesting thing would be to have a mailing list. Post only so that you could send it out to anyone interested. Also it would be nice if you could have one file available that is the entire issue. This would make printing C-Scene a whol lot easier...

Soon we will put up the ASCII version. Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I was a little ambigous with my printing suggestion. i would like to grab the whole thing as one big file something like a cat *>>/tmp/the_whole_damn_thing so that it would come out as one nice big doc. Do you have the facilities for a mailing list?
